Anyone know anything more about this, other than the vagueness of the ad and the misspellings?

Someone is getting a crappy present for New Year's -- a pink slip.

Canidate should have a proven track record of juggling multiple projects, as well as be a strong writer and solid reporter. Must be versatile

Well then just PM him. Why post an ad if you have your canidate in mind?
And, Versatile, congrats on the new gig! Remember to spell check everything your new boss gives you.

So could there be any other explanation for such a vague job posting, other than they are looking for someone's replacement before the person knows they are being replaced?

At least that's the impression most people are going to take from it. And given that, would that make you less-inclined to apply for that job, with the assumption that it could be your job they are vaguely advertising for somewhere down the road?
