I don't think this will be a heavily populated thread but I am at the outpatient office for my appointment. I may very well quit because after all I am a quitter if you ask recent tried and true teammates on a heavy hitting project. Regardless, I'm a junkie and will always be a junkie.

The first step in recovery is knowing you have a problem.

We all are addicted to at least something (caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, sugar, carbs, phones, video games, food, mental health things… ).

The key is getting the help to suppress them so you can live your best life.

You got this. It won’t be easy. It won’t be quick. But you got this.

Lot of registration questions, then a 30-minute video chat with a specialist who prescribed Baclofen as a potential cravings blocker because the first choice tends to create kidney stones which I have zero desire of ever having. Then a fast video chat with a therapist who was a little too sure of himself so I had to put it in the simplest terms: my drug is my shining star and nothing else matters in my life and hardly anything you think you can do is going to end the deep abiding love affair with my shining star. "My shining star" wiped the smirk off his face and got him serious enough to recalibrate his "I'm a professional" confidence and we scheduled a longer session next week.

Just a bunch of talkers so far.

You know you want better for yourself. That can help you sustain for the rough patches ahead. Hold onto that.

Speaking to the part I'm a little more familiar with, if this therapist doesn't mesh well with you going forward it is OK to find another one. The negative self-talk (oh how I know this part all too well) can drag you down as much as any chemical reaction.

You can do this, Songbird. We're in your corner ... and the fact you're still busting out the camera is a good sign. You're one hell of a photographer.

I was hungover as hell and damn near heatstroked Sunday, puked after the concert and all night.

That's it. I have stopped drinking and toking. Prolly use gummies, but I have to be healthier for my kids.

I've been a high functioning alcoholic most of my adult life, and it's taken a toll.

Good luck, Songbird.

I’ve been doing something for 35 years from pot to booze and, for the last 20 years, yayo, my shining star in the universe. It’s the only thing that matters to me, the only thing that brings joy to my life, and I don’t ever want to stop which is why doing this rehab thing seems silly. But I’ve thrown it all away … like, everything and am way too embarrassed to even discuss that part ..: and can’t do it now. The fear is when I do get a few bucks. // I appreciate the concern and love on this thread. Good luck Swingline, I know where you are right now. And I’m proud of you, Creosote, I doubt I’ll get to where you are now.

I had to scroll a bit to find yayo. Good luck and just be patient, and you will get over the physical part. The psychological part is the bigger demon.

I’m glad you’re doing this. I remind you of our old friend ArnoldBabar, who didn’t try until it was too late.
