Founded in 2000 as RealClearPolitics, RCMG has covered all aspects of the U.S. political process and evolved to include original and vertical coverage of defense, energy, markets, education, health, history, policy, religion, books, science, sports, technology, and world news.

RCMG is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated sports junkie to join its editorial team as a sports associate editor.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible, in partnership with another associate editor, for managing sports website in order to develop a comprehensive, timely, and reader-friendly content
• Evaluate whether content is successful or not, monitor visitor statistics and website feedback as well as reader participation
• Develop a publishing schedule, special projects around major sports events, and an editorial direction for the site
• Develop external partnerships with journalists, publishers, and other organizations who are responsible for providing website content (arrange for reprints and copyright permissions as needed)
• Represent RCMG at industry events in order to continue to build and expand contributor network
• Responsible for contributing strategies for successful delivery of the website to its audience via daily morning newsletter, social media, original content, video, etc.
• Maintain social media presence to engage audiences on Facebook and Twitter

• Allocate website space for links, story text, photos, and videos according to significance
• Monitor news to ensure utilization of all news sources such as press releases, radio, television, social media, and other reports

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

• Minimum BA/BS degree
• Love of sports and consistent attention to sports news
• Understanding of the online/digital/internet space
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
• Experience effectively managing issues and relationships

Preferred Skills:

• Strong PC and Microsoft skills
• Working knowledge of any CMS and prior work experience on managing web content
• Interest in sports statistics analysis
• Prior experience carrying out communications work in a fast-paced and busy environment
• Experience in sports industry and/or coverage of sports news and analysis
