MTV did it. They found seven people who are certifiably insane.

I gave the Las Vegas cast the benefit of the doubt because I go nuts in Vegas, too. I'm 26, love to party and feel in touch with the early 20s crowd.

But this Denver cast is ****ing nuts.

Collie is the only one who hasn't proven to be crazy yet, but I bet it's coming. You've got the gay guy who's trying to get *****, the sweet girl who get anxiety over everything, the former Raiders cheerleader who should go to a mental institution, the religious guy who's cheating on his girlfriend every night, the token angry black guy (named Tyree, much to Dave Chappelle's delight) and the laid-back former swimmer who always says the worst possible thing at the worst possible time.

MTV, you are awarded no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Did JDV do the former Raiders cheerleader?

Being familiar with Denver, I cannot believe some of the "local boys" downtown haven't torched their place yet.

Bill Simmons had a couple of paragraphs on this in a recent mailbag and it was pretty funny. I haven't watched the show in about 5 or 6 years. I just stopped caring.

I've been watching RW from the early days of New York. It's still my favorite guilty pleasure.

As for RW Denver, there is such beautiful, angry conflict among this cycle's cast. Those are the best cycles of RW, when it's nothing but angry. And for the record, the tall black-haired girl is a bonafide head case.

I guess it was more fun when I was in high school and considered the people "adults". Now I just look at them and consider them spoiled brats.

I'll still catch it late at night or as background noise.

The first version was awesome. I still have a serious crush on Julie.

Then it became painfully obvious the whole thing was fixed.

And just because: Starman, paging Starman. Starman please report to this thread and explain how Real World ruined MTV.

The Real World peaked when Pedro was still alive...

And BYH, word on Julie... I had a little thing for 'Ray-shell' from San Francisco as well.

I'm partial to the virgin from Seattle...was her name Rebecca?
I quit watching the show years ago because it got so stupid...they obviously take the hottest and most ****ed up applicants they can find. But after Simmons' comments I picked it up again. He predicts the Raiderette will go from the Real World to porn. And doesn't Collie have kind of a Jennifer Garner thing going on?

I think Tyree is hot.

There. I said it.

And the fact he might, in fact, be crazy only makes it better.

I guess this is all I needed to be reminded of...

She scares me. I think Kina's cuter, but crazier. But Diem's my favorite, even if she is REALLY bad at picking guys.

Jodi is second from the right, Kina is third from the left.

Ahh, Julie from the first season. That accent was just perfect.

And if you've stopped watching RW, congratulations. You're now an adult. The only way I'd tune back in is if MTV put them in the real world, instead of The Real World. Ain't nothin' real about getting to live rent-free in the swankiest house in the neighborhood and being given "jobs" that other people would kill for.

I don't find it to be destination television or anything (actually, only the Office and Friday Night Lights are for me right now) ... but if I'm eating lunch at home at 2 and reruns are on, I'll watch. Just like Laguna Beach.

My favorite thing about that first season -- people got pissed at roommates for things you would under normal circumstances. Norm yelling at Heather B. when she forgot to tape a Star Trek he had seen a zillion times already, the chaos of doing grocery shopping with six other people, etc.

The Real World has too many women with low self-esteem and men straight from the frat house for me to want to watch anymore. There are no more Julies on that show anymore.
