So the guy who was the baseball coach when I was in high school was well loved. The field was named after him. He retired midway through my senior year after like 31 years at the school. Everyone loved him. I could not stand him.
Chief among my complaints was he was very handsy with the girls. And this was late '70s early '80s and people didn't push back when that happened. I remember multiple classes where we'd all be goofing around, because there was actually very little class work done, despite people claiming he was a great teacher, and there'd be a girl sitting on his knee. I have long thought that he was probably touching places he shouldn't have been touching. But the thing is, if anyone else thought that it's remained silent.
And the only reason I bring it up because this really is ancient history, like every once while on the Facebook pages for my hometown, whether it's the history or the education, he rolls up in a post. He did today. And everyone just is so enthusiastic about saying what a great teacher and a great coach he was. And I really do wonder if he ever sexually assaulted or molested the girls he was touching.
