Fifty eight is way to young to be dead...
I have several football cards of Bryant. RIP

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Cullen Bryant, who played for 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and was a running back on its 1980 Super Bowl team, has died. He was 58.
His sister-in-law, Wanda Bryant, says he died Tuesday at his home in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Bryant was a second-round draft pick for the Rams in 1973. He played with the team until 1982, spent the 1983-84 season with the Seattle Seahawks and returned to the Rams in 1987 for his last pro season.
At 6-foot-1 and 234 pounds, he was the biggest player of his time to regularly return kickoffs.
In 13 NFL seasons, Bryant scored 23 rushing and receiving touchdowns and ran back kickoffs for another three. He ran for 3,264 yards on 849 carries.
He's survived by three children.

Was a star linebacker at Colorado and was one of the top NFL fullbacks back when fullbacks could still lead a team in rushing. RIP

Dools, watch vid #2 from that link I posted. Bryant makes a great lead block for Wendell Tyler's first TD.

And funny comment about Zorn on this one.

Cullen Bryant was a memorable player on Sunday afternoons in the 1970s, as I watched Saint games after church.
He and Lawrence McCutcheon were the LA Rams backs of note from that era.
Falcons and 49ers caused lots of havoc at times, too, while Orleans routinely changed coaches and languished in the NFC West.
RIP, Cullen.

What I remember most about Cullen Bryant was his huge biceps when he played free safety for Colorado. 1972 - well before the steroid era. He really stood out on the football field. Hit like a freight train. RIP

Jeez, in just the first few posts this thread has references to him as a free safety, fullback, linebacker and kickoff returner. I take it he was versatile.

You are a quick study. He became an rb when he went to NFL

And a damn good one, as noted earlier. Tackling Bryant was like trying to take out a tank with a rifle. My childhood memory bank is replete with visions of Bryant just steamrolling opposing linebackers, back in the days when you had 220-pound linebackers.

Right you are, Evil O. 58 is way too young. Then again, that's about the life expectancy of an NFL alum.

RIP.
