MTV News apparently made video in which men and women offer up New Year's resolutions to "white guys," because "they can do better." Well, it missed the mark by a long shot, and (surprise, surprise) it is no longer available on the MTV site.

This seems to be one of those cases where you wonder who thought this was a good idea. Most of the "white guys" are saying that if MTV was to single out any other group, it would be inappropriate. As a "white guy" it doesn't bother me a bit, because, well, I have thick skin and I'm not easily offended.

But this video (not all of the celebrity deaths or the election) is what sums up 2016 for me.

I'd hope this election would signal to left-leaning groups (including, especially, our Democratic Party) that America's grown sick and tired of this approach. The real relevant division in US society that should now be the main focus of the left is on our dramatically spiraling economic class disparities--Bernie Sanders and Liz Warren had the right idea all along--believe it or not, Dem party leaders.

But it's hard to effectively convey that message to a vast percentage of those who need to hear it when you're constantly presenting through a PC-language prism that always places primary emphasis on racial, gender and sexual preference distinctions, and which SO often implicitly sends a condescending message to poor to middle rural white Americans that we really don't like or approve of you, don't consider you one of us, and think you should hear our snide self-righteous lecturing on your shortcomings.
