Quick style question... En Guard or On Guard?

I was going for a play on words for a lifeguard feature we're running. It's in an Impact headline inside a photo box.

It's definitely "En" and not "On" though, right?
 
En Garde is French for On your guard.



If you're going to use it, definitely En Garde.

Ask yourself if that is trying to be too cute though? Not a bad idea, but probably needs a real good subhead.

En Garde is most commonly used in fencing as a type of On Your Mark.

What is the picture of?

If it is people pretending to swordfight, it is en garde.

If it is a lifeguard doing his/her job, they are on guard.
 
If it was a picture of a lifeguard sporting a boner in his trunks over some bikini-clad woman, yeah, "En garde" would work.
