Questions about Jets game at MetLife

I'm going as a fan to the Jets opener in Jersey. Three questions!

1) I'm probably going to have to bring two pieces of luggage with me. I know they have a bag check - would anyone advise against leaving stuff there?

2) Without a car, is there any good way to get from there to Newark airport other than taxi?

3) I'll have a bit of time to kill. Is there anywhere non-bar-ish to eat or hang out in the area after games?

AirTrain from the airport to the Newark Liberty train station. Take a train to Secaucus Junction, and take a train to the stadium from there.
