OK, so this is more about me wondering what a certain other paper was thinking ...
Suppose there was a semi-significant world championship in an Olympic sport. AP staffs the competition and reports are found on all the major web sites and in most major newspapers as at least a brief. During the four days of competition, there were several world records set. You send a writer to cover the events but this writer never mentions any of the records being broken. you might not be interested in the sport yourself, but wouldn't you at least want to print that there was a world record set in a legitimate Olympic sporting event in your town? Several world records, in fact.
How do you cover an event like that and not mention a single time there were world records set? One day, almost forgiveable. But to skip that news on the three different days records were set?
/befuddled rant
