Sports Journalists Forum – Media, Newsroom & Reporting Talk

I agree with all five, but personally would like to see LeBeau in there as well.

My gut, though, says Rice, Smith, LeBeau, and for some odd reason, I think Rickey Jackson goes in because the Saints are in the Super Bowl and there are good feelings all around. I think Carter deserves to be in last year, but I think the voters will weight one more year because of Rice.

Carter .... not so much, for me.
You DO know that those 130 TD catches... they didn't just write that next to his name. He actually caught them in NFL games.

Charles Haley being out is just as much of a travesty.

Haley and Carter don't make final 10?

****ing sports writers should be rounded up and shot.

What a sham.

Haley has 4.5 Super Bowl sacks.... won 5 rings with 4 coaches.... Got the onslaught started in XXVII against Buffalo with his sack/strip of Kelly.

Stupendous stupidity.

NFL needs to toss the writers out of the process.

Looking for this combination. Being at least 40 years old. Having 20/20 vision.

It's apparent that none of these no-talent assclown writers fits this dual criteria.

You should really get more worked up over this, Simon.

No Shannon Sharpe.

John ****ing Randle!

Only good thing about Randle being up there is that Jason Taylor is better than him.

Dude, we are on a sports board.

In that context... in that puny, meaningless context, THIS is a ****ing Jonestown tragedy.

While I like the idea of Rickey Jackson finally getting in, no Cris Carter? No Shannon Sharpe?

Whoops. Try again.

Randy Jackson? RANDY JACKSON?

Good freaking grief, that's embarrassing.

(I know who it is ... but for such a formal announcement, that's bad.)

This was my first year as a voter. Rules prevent me from revealing which candidates received my votes. Rules also prevent me from disclosing specifics of conversations.

Are you kidding me?

Haley's bad-guy reputation might have worked against him, again. He probably once hurt some writers' feelings.

Not a fan of bad guys. But since when has any major professional Hall of Fame let that factor into their decisions?

I like Rickey Jackson but at no point in their careers would I take him over Charles Haley. Got no problem with Grimm or Randle. Linemen, particularly interior linemen, never seem to get their due and this is a pleasant surprise
