Well, Texas has the best high school football hands down, but isn't in that list.

That intrigues me.

It's the center of the high school football universe.

Independence in Charlotte had stretched that streak to over 100 games (109?) before losing a game to a Cincinnati-based school last year.

Yep. Then Greenville Rose had the longest streak - for six days. Then it lost to Rocky Mount.

The Rampants lost to the Gryphons? For shame, for shame ...

Because the idiots at NCHSAA continue to subdivide the classifications, Rose never had to face Independence in the playoffs. Otherwise, I have serious doubts that Rose would have won any of the matchups.

My old HS is the biggest in the state (WA) and we stink at every sport except swimming and cross country.

always thought they should have had a gorilla mascot.

I remember when Hudson, Mich., set the record of 72 straight when I was a kid. I thought that would NEVER be broken.
It lasted until the first year Michigan had a playoff system.

I learned in a half dozen years of prep reporting at USA Today to approach that book with caution. It ain't complete.

couldn't find anything historically, but the longest active streak in my state is 33 by william floyd high school on long island. upstate, couldn't tell ya.

Can't be Zillah. It's only a 1A, doesn't have swimming and isn't very good at cross country.

I just took a cursory look at the WIAA enrollment numbers and I'm going to guess Inglemoor.

I know Georgia's is 47, by Buford (ended by my alma mater, thank you very much). Broke the mark of 46 by Parkview, which broke the mark of 44 by Lincoln County. These things move slowly.

Georgia's longest losing streak, however, is much more impressive.

gola, doesn't southlake and abilene share the longest in texas? thought I had seen something about southlake going to break the streak and lost after getting it tied a year or so ago somewhere ...
