My sister didn't show until she was seven months. Now granted she's a big woman (5-10, over 200 at the time), but different women show at different times. The same woman might show at different times in pregnancies that are years apart because our bodies change -- both because of age and previous pregnancies.

You really believe that is what happened here, or are you just being combative?

I don't know what happened, Simon. I'm simply pointing out that some women do show later.

The fact the child has Down Syndrome makes me believe that it's hers more than anything else. The risk of a child having that in a mother above 40 is exponentially higher than it occurring in a mother who's a teenager.

I'll defer to sportschick on this because she, you know, is a woman. But I have two sisters in law, athletic former college volleyball players, who barely showed until Month eight.

It's one thing to have a tight pre-first-birth body.

I could be sold some of that, then.

But after having gotten massive on a previous pregnancy, and with it being her fifth and all those ab muscles being compromised from the previous four.

Back when I was pregnant with Rosebud, another woman at work was also pregnant. She was due about the same time I was. While I looked nine months pregnant about a week after conception, she never did look pregnant.

All women are different and each pregnancy is different. My pregnancies were close and very different. I came very close to not making it with one of them.

A few years back, a neighbor down the road - very athletic - was pregnant with her third child. None of us knew she was pregnant, then one day she's carting a baby around.
