Slightly off topic, but in the early 1990s, the city I grew up in decided it needed to build a new elementary school. So, the school board thought, why not let the kids choose the name of the new school? That's how Greenwood, S.C., ended up with a Springfield Elementary School (despite the best efforts of a "concerned" group of parents).
