I don't cover the NFL. I love the NFL. I have a favourite NFL team.

I also bet on the NFL now and then.

The question is:
Would you rather win your bet or have your favourite team win?

I just found myself cheering for my team when they made an interception, but I have bet against my favourite team today. I guess I'd rather have them win.

Never, ever bet with your heart. On either side.

Agreed. I just bet looking at them as two football teams, but when I watch the game, I can't help but root for my team.

I only bet on myself because that is the only situation in which I know I can control the outcome.

Well, since the L.A. Rams became the St. Louis Rams, I don't care as much about the NFL, other than being a Romo (and Pokes) fanboy to an extent.

But to answer your question: Money, especially when you win a 3-team parlay and smilingly walk up to Eddie at a brew pub in Bennington and sit down next to him awaiting him to give you an envelope with a grand in it. Oh, the days.

I'd never bet against my team, even if I thought it was a sure thing. It would be bad juju, and I don't think I would handle the internal conflict of interest well.
