Peyton Manning arrested overnight...

Played it on our site this morning -- with the qualifying hed -- and got the typical idiot Facebook posters who didn't think it was funny/it's not news/the poor girl.

Still, the cat rescuing the boy from the dog attack got like 50,000 times more traffic than this story did out here, though I haven't looked at the numbers in a few hours, but the early trending is a decent indicator.

If she's 18, that means the parents likely named her that on purpose.

Given that she's from Tennessee, I think you can lock that in as a given.

I would imagine there's plenty more "Peytons" coming of age in that 16 to 18 year old age bracket in Tennessee these days. Probably more than a few 8-10 year old Mississippi Eli's as well.

There are two Peytons in my 8-year-old's class and one in my 6-year-old's class and I don't like in Tennessee or Indiana. It's a hugely popular name these days.

Her last name is Manning! it's not the same thing.

What did you expect?
Besides page clicks, I mean.

Probably not as many as you would think. For one thing, Mississippi's college loyalties are much, much more divided than in Tennessee, where the Orange rules. For another, Ole Miss fans don't have the same reverence toward Eli that UT fans have with Peyton.

More than are named Cooper, I suppose.

It isn't news, and it's not particularly funny. Why should this girl's drug charges get massive play just because she has a stupid name?

She shares a name with the most famous football player in the world. That's not her fault, but I get why newspapers are running with the story.

It should give her an additional reason to hate her parents...

Bail was set surprisingly high because the courts were afraid she would show up for the February court date, which is on a Sunday.

They also requested a venue in a warm-weather city, or inside a dome... :D

I can't wait until 2024 when 17-year-old Tebow McCarthy chooses the University of Florida.

I'm sure there are more than a few of them considering Tebow was worshipped as much, if not more, by fans than Manning was when he was at Tennessee and their fan bases are filled with a similar number of idiots. (No offense to TigerVols...) :D

Oh, I'm just as big an idiot as the rest of them!!!

Let this be a lesson to others when naming their kid.

how exactly was the money in her purse consistent with bills used in a drug deal? did they have coke on them? were they rolled up? is that just a thing cops can make up to justify confiscating it?

NOT show up, you mean?

When the cops asked her how she ended up in this situation, she blamed it on her iditot, liquored up boyfriend.

Oh, lighten up. Cripes. Yes, the poor girl.
