Shoes is shoes, as Ron Curry once said.

I was there at the NFL draft that year. After he was selected, he stood up there vowing to all the teams who passed him that he would "give it to 'em."

Oops.

Boy, the Bengals had some bad No. 1 picks for awhile there -- David Klingler, Ki-Jana Carter, Akili Smith, Peter Warrick.

He should try the CFL or the new AAFL that's trying to start up.

I'll never forget that night in January, 1999 when he got totally shut down in the Fiesta Bowl v. Tennessee, especially when he tried to out-juke the punter, David Leaverton, who grabbed him up and pretty much body-slammed him to the turf.

Nice article about Leaverton by Mark Packer of the Knoxville News Sentinel. He now works for Sen. Bob Corker:

The list of first-rounders in that 2000 draft is pretty uninspiring.

How could we ever forget Trung Canidate?

It's funny, every Vol fan held their breath every time Leaverton ran out onto the field to punt. But after he laid the wood to Warrick, he was a totally different player on the field from then on, and into the next season. He finally had confidence and it showed.

Shut down in the Fiesta Bowl? Third string QB will do that to any WR.
