Like others have said, speed is all Blanco has in his offensive arsenal. It's most certainly not chicken **** for him to attempt a bunt single in a 3-run game in the 7th inning. There were no outs, and he had Escobar and Jones behind him. Perfectly legit scenario for a bunt single attempt.

I'm almost certain he called Koufax's in 1965, and probably Dennis Martinez's (for the Expos against LA) in 1991.
