Price includes a 'deposit' on the bottle/can. You get it back, when you take it back. Michigan is a deposit state. When college kids came to Ohio to drink, they'd smash their cans on their heads because they didn't have to take them back. Well, some kids I knew. They were from Central Michigan. And it was a long time ago.

Living out of the deposit states is pretty cool. I save all the nickels on my soda and beer purchases, yet I earn a nickel every time I bring my bags and boxes of them back to New York. If only I lived in Michigan. ...

Living out of the deposit states is pretty cool. I save all the nickels on my soda and beer purchases, yet I earn a nickel every time I bring my bags and boxes of them back to New York. If only I lived in Michigan. ...

Yeah, I'm now keeping the 20-ouncers I buy at work and taking them home with me so I can deposit them back in. I figure as much soda as I drink, every 9 12-packs I drink, I get a free one.
