Cognac is a "sipping" drink, but it smells so lethal to me that I never drink it by itself. But it's a great mixer.

I've purchased Pierre Ferrand, a higher-end cognac, for my hubby and he loves it.

I think the question Tom is asking is: Can you put Skittles in it?

damn straight ... or andes mints.

I wouldn't put Skittles in it. But the thought of Skittles and Cognac reminds of dirty snowball wap we concocted when I was in college. Basically, it's anything alcoholic found in the host's house thrown into a plastic garbage can. And yes Tom Petty, Skittles would be great to float on the top.

I hate to burst your bubble Tom (and Mira) but as a guy who used to hang out with ditzy girls, Skittles don't float. In Zima at least.

you're dating yourself with the talk of spodies. ... and haw. punch always went well in a spodie.

Spent my share of time behind a bar...here's a few recipes from some old cards I have.

Jackson 5:

Equal parts
Jose Cuervo
Jack Daniels
Johnnie Walker Red
Jim Beam
Jagermeister

TNT-
Tequila/Tabasco

Silver Bullet-
Half tequila/Half Jack Daniels

Golden Elk-
1/2 Jagermeister/1/2 Goldschlager

3 Wisemen-
Johnnie Walker-Jim Beam-Jack Daniels

3 Wisemen and a Mexican-
Johnnie Walker-Jim Beam-Jack Daniels-Jose Cuervo

The most drunk I have ever been in my life is off the 3 Wisemen....to this day, I don't know how the hell I got home from the bar that night.

Ah, Jaegermeister. Just thinking about it makes me shiver. Couple shots and I'm under the bar.

Knob Creek or Jack Daniel's on the rocks or chilled Ketel One, please.

'Gola, How many people are coming to this partystavaganza? 2 kegs is A LOT of beer.

There are some very good suggestions here.

Word is we will have 50-60 people.

Cognac tastes like almonds with a kick. Damn good as an after-dinner drink with a cigar, better if you had wine with the meal, preferably red wine.

Roomie and I are hosting a party with a live band. We are getting a keg, making some jello shots and we were thinking of making some sort of jungle juice.
The only problem is, we have never made a hard alcohol punch before.
Does anyone have any ideas?

And no, no one will be getting on any roofs during this party. In fact, I may never get on another roof as long as I live.

Just make sure your jello shots are in easy access of 10 year olds. A friend left the jello shots on the kitchen table during a party and did not realize her 10 year old nephew was near the kitchen. Thinking it was just purple and green jello, he picked up all the jello shots and ate them. We found out 2 hours after the digestion when we were ready to have them. We took kid to the hospital for check up and he was fine...a little tipsy though.

Thankfully there will be no children at this party.
I am fully expecting the cops to be called, so we are going to check everyone's ID and have either bracelets or stamps to confirm things.

I love bourbon. It's my spirit of choice.
But I don't like it over ice. I just take it neat, and frequently.
By the way, the Costco by us has a great deal on a bourbon gift set - fifths of Booker, Baker and Hayden just $100 for the set. That's a great deal.
If I were stocking bourbon for a party, though, I'd probably go with the Kickin' Chicken. Wild Turkey is a good bourbon at a very good price. And the 101 tastes better than the 80.
Cognac, or any good brandy, is delicious. Don't mix it with anything and don't put ice in it. Just pour it into a wide glass and sip it.

At a bachelor party this summer, some friends showed up with "Joyce Juice" (named after the bride-to-be). They refused to tell us what was in it until it was gone, so the last night they gave us the list:

(mixed in a sideline-style gatorade jug)
1L everclear
1 box cheap blush wine
1 40 of Steel Reserve
1 40 of Milwaukee's Best
1 40 of High Life
1 pouch powdered pink kool-ade
4L Mountain Dew
16 oz. Red Bull
16 oz. Rockstar

Now THAT **** will mess you up.

Why in the hell would you even think of drinking a concoction like that?

Good Heavens.

Good point Chef. I try not to drink Steel Reserve or The Beast whenever I can, but it has never crossed my mind to combine the two with other alcoholic beverages and then consume it.

It tasted like candy until you were in bed with your eyes wide open, heart racing a mile a minute blitzed out of your skull.
