The local Ch. 5 WTVF in Nashville, Tenn. is reporting that suspended Tennessee Titans NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones has signed or will sign a short-term contract with TNA this week. Jones is reportedly looking to become a full-time wrestler now that he has been suspended by the NFL for the entire 2007 season based on his off-the-field legal troubles.

TNA co-owner Jeff Jarrett has been out of the country this weekend, but will return to the States on Monday to possibly finalize the contract. Jones's link to pro wrestling is through his attorney, Manny Arora, who is the same attorney for Chris Benoit's former doctor, Phil Astin.

They should put him in the ring with walking pharmacy Kurt Angle and get the ATF boys over there triple-time.

You *******, I was just about to post this! Something tells me that Mr. Goodall will not be pleased with this.

Could this be a sign he has given up on his NFL career comletely to focus on the lucrative world of sports entertainment? If he is wearing anything other than the colour yellow for his in ring costume, I will be pissed.

If "Make it Rain" or some derivative is not the name of his finisher, there is no God.

Plenty of NFL guys have made the switch. Former Titan Frank Wycheck was on one of TNA's recent PPVs and Monty Brown (aka Marcus CorVon in ECW) is a former Buffalo Bills player. Not to mention the scores of other football guys who made the switch like Steve McMichaels or Kevin Greene in WCW days.

Wahoo was awesome. Saw him in the old AWA days. Sadly, all three of these guys, at least Ladd and McDaniels for sure, have passed away.

And the most successful crossover athlete of them all, Bronko Nagurski

Pacman, just when I think you couldn't get any dumber, you go off and do something like this ... and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!

God damn it. Just when I'd allowed myself to forget the abject horror that was Steve McMichael in a wrestling ring...

And Pacman's supposedly getting to play the role of the good guy. I wonder if the money he makes off this goes to the Tommy Urbanski fund... since Urbanski was a pro wrestler and all.

Well, it looks as if Fisher and the Titans are going to keep Pac's from "Makin' It Rain" on down to the ring.

Don't forget Bill Goldberg and Manny Fernandez.

Wait a minute, the Bruins new goalie was a pro wrestler?

Different Manny Fernandez. Was a defensive lineman for the Dolphins in the early 1970s, and a damn good one too. He was part of the 1972 team.

He could be a manager who offers bags of cash to wrestlers for a bounty or perhaps for the TNA females on the show.

It's official

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is ready to step into the wrestling ring.

He signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and will make his in-ring debut on Thursday, the company said Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jones' first appearance will be for its iMPACT! show on Spike TV, and he'll appear in a pay-per-view show on Sunday. TNA films at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla.

"I am a big fan of wrestling, so I wanted to give it a try," Jones said in a statement. "I respect wrestling and I'm not coming in like it's just a show. I want to prove that I am the greatest team-sport athlete."

Jones' NFL contract prohibits non-football activities that could cause injury. Jones' agent said last week that they had talked with the Titans about Jones' plans with TNA.

TNA spokesman Steven Godfrey said officials could not comment on whether Jones actually will wrestle.

"But he will be involved in a story line," Godfrey said.

The Titans were on the practice field Monday morning, and coach Jeff Fisher couldn't immediately be contacted for reaction. Titans chief operating officer Steve Underwood didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Jones was suspended in April for the 2007 season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for conduct detrimental to the league. He dropped his appeal of that punishment in June.

Goodell was asked about Jones' wrestling activities when he visited the Titans' camp Saturday. Goodell said it was up to Jones to decide what's in his best interest as he tries to earn his way back onto the field.

"I've often said that it's not about what you say, it's about what you do," Goodell said. "It's your actions. And I think the actions will have to determine that."

Jones has been arrested six times since being drafted by the Titans in April 2005, including June 22 when he turned himself in on two felony counts of coercion in a Las Vegas strip club fight that left a man paralyzed.

His bid to join the Titans in training camp was denied by the NFL on July 26. Jones' case will be reviewed after the Titans' 10th game, which is Nov. 19.

He wouldn't be the first Titan to make a TNA appearance. Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch worked the corner for retired tight end Frank Wycheck at a TNA tag team match in June in Nashville.

I don't know how he's going to make his in-ring debut on Thursday, since that show's already been taped, but if they can shake up the plans to accommodate the boring Andrew "Test" Martin, they can do it for this weinus.
