Just read this story online, which made me sick to my stomach as I played with my 5-year-old son. This ****ing piece of **** deserves the chair -- or worst!! >:( >:(

Here's the paragraph relevant to my thread title:

McTear has previously been arrested on charges including felony battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery by strangulation. According to the Florida Department of Corrections, McTear was sentenced to two years probation in June 2008 on a felony battery conviction. An arrest warrant was issued when he failed to report.

I guess this happened like three weeks ago but it was listed under one of the top stories on the PB Post site. Anyway, here's a more detailed story from The Tampa Tribune that only emphasizes how mnay times this loser slipped through the cracks, with the most sickening evidence highlighted by me below the link:

March 2006: He was supposed to be watching his 2-year-old son in a second-story Temple Terrace apartment when a neighbor found the boy wandering near a pond outside, a police report says.

The neighbor called police, who found McTear lying on the couch, stinking of alcohol. An officer had to shake him to wake him.

The neglect charge: dropped.

November 2007: Five days after Rekale Hill failed to appear in court for an injunction against McTear, he forced his way into her car. He punched the mother of his child, choked her and brandished a knife, a police report says. Their 3-year-old son witnessed it all.

She escaped, the police report says. He took off with the boy, but brought him back two hours later. The vehicle was found on fire.

Charges of domestic battery by strangulation, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft motor vehicle: dropped.

He was convicted of misdemeanor trespassing.

February 2008: He knocked on the front door, my room window, then went around the back of the apartment. Then, he proceeded to check back doors. One of my back doors were opened, where he entered and began cursing at me, wrote Louvena Cromartie on a petition for a restraining order.

He grabbed me and beat me unconscious.

The restraining order: denied because of incomplete paperwork.

Perhaps the thread title should be changed to Florida's justice system sucks.
Why blame the rest of the country for Florida's incompetence/stupidity?

Because unless I am mistaken, the laws governing how charges can stick in domestic violence cases are pretty uniform nationwide. How many times did Nicole Simpson decide not to press charges? And that happened in California.

Didn't Florida give us the 43rd President of the United States? It can't be all bad.
