I'm not passing judgement on their opinions or opposite opinions. But those of you who like to claim that all reputable scientists are in agreement on global warming are simply wrong. I read the quotes from the scientists and scholars in this link, and there seem to be a lot of guys with strong credentials who don't believe in the global warming trend, or have serious questions.

Of course, you people will shoot the messenger rather than accept the fact that there is more than one view on this subject. Feel free. As my daddy use to say, you ain't gettin' no cherry.

This must be the follow-up to the GOP minority report from a few months ago that had damning evidence from that "prominent scientist," a TV weather guy in Kentucky.
Apparently you didn't take the time to read the item I posted, possibly in fear that you might be wrong, or, at best, have other people merely asking questions rather than falling into lockstep with the global warming alarmists. There were a helluva more people quoted in the story with reservations about the whole thing, and they appeared to have much stronger credentials than a weatherman in Kentucky.

It snowed in Houston and New Orleans this week.

The midwest had a brutal winter last year followed by zero 90-degree days in the summer and a brutal start to early winter so far.

Ice is growing at record rates in the arctic.

[blue]But global warming is indisputable.[/blue]

Yeah. Because global warming is all about hot temperatures, and not bizarre ****ed-up weather on both sides of the spectrum.

Hmmm, I don't detect anything about the "alphabet" in your previous post, Junkie, or anything about Trey or Seinfeld sucking in mine.

Everytime that kind of sentiment is posted, all it does is reflect a broad ignorance of the wide ramifications of the issue.

As Mr. Ziegler once said, I am willing to bet all the money in my pockets against all the money in hondo's pockets that this "report" comes out of Jim Imhofe's office, and that it's pegged to the conference next week in NYC of The Heartland Institute, which was behind the fake "500 scientists" letter of a couple of years ago, took $280,000 from Enron, and was founded to create "scientific" evidence to counter the consensus on the dangers of tobacco and, with ample funding from the extraction industry, has moved on to "debunking" global warming. We will discover that at least a few of the scientists quoted will complain that they have been associated with this, and that a few will point out that their words were posted without permission or context.

I don't pretend to know anything about global warming, but any time I've mentioned how much cooler it's been in the South over the last few years, I'm given a line about warmer areas being cooler and cooler areas being warmer. Honestly, I avoid spending lots of time researching any of it. I'm going to global warming hell anyway, because I use my fireplace.

The problem is, some people hear "global warming" and think that means it's never going to snow again, or get cold, or what have you. Some, like old tony, post idiotic pictures of snow in New Orleans and accept that as definitive proof that global warming isn't real.

But it's not that simple, of course, and "warming" is only one part of the phenomenon. I admit I don't know much about it, either, but the basic idea is that the climate in many regions is becoming more volatile -- that means, colder colds, hotter hots, nastier natural disasters, more frequent storms and more frequent droughts, etc. Bascally, the weather conditions are getting more extreme.

It's a lot more complicated than just gauging the temperature.

Hondo, give it up. Even your party's presidential candidate knew this is happening. Not his uber-intellectual VP, though. Well, she did, but she didn't think it was important to know why.

According to whom? I keep seeing before-and-after pictures of ice shelves that seem to lose a chunk the size of Texas every time they're taken.

The biggest evidence of global warming comes from the USDA hardiness zone maps which are released every year. Compare 20-years ago to today. What you will see are plants that were once never able to survive in NYC growing in Central Park. Plants that could never survive in Michigan are being grown out windows of high rises.

Now, I get that there is some disagreement about the degree to which man is creating the problem. I look at it the same as two guys are standing in a room full of people and they fart. The room now stinks of their gas. Sure, the two guys can **** and moan about how much of the stink came from themselves but it doesn't change the fact that the room stinks and nobody else wants to be in the room with these two assholes.

To remedy this, we can say that we won't blame either guy and that the odor is coming from some mold growing behind the walls and it just so happened to become really pungent when the two gasbags decided to break wind. Or, we can say that it is entirely possible that the two gasbags played a roll and that they can look to remedy their flatulence in the future so that it won't possibly contribute further to the already stinky mold.

Just looking at some of the quotes...
Here is the first one:
“I am a skeptic…Global warming has become a new religion.” - Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever.
Wow. That is quite damning?! It doesn’t sound like the guy is saying that it isn’t real. In fact there is a huge gap after the word “skeptic.” Is it possible that info is left out?

Seems to me that FB is right on the money here.

Couldn't that be chalked up to evolution?
