(Note: this comes from the previous Sentinel thread, it deserved its own space. The post below comes from Lynn Hoppes.)

The Orlando Sentinel once again has an opening for a sports reporter.
No need to send stuff if your stuff is on file.
If you haven't sent stuff and would like to be considered, send to

Mr. Lynn Hoppes

Did I miss the post....

What happened to Admiral Benbow?

Go read the other thread, then I guess leave this one for discussion of the opening, not for how it came open.

Check the other thread? Never thought of that one!

You find me the post on the other thread that answers my question, because... AGAIN.... I ain't seeing it.

Not trying to stop the flow of information. If someone's got an answer, fine, toss it in. Play nice. But that other thread was getting long in the tooth, and the news that an opening had come up again needed a fresh home.

The point, pube, is that it wasn't answered there, and because it fell down, it was locked. So maybe coming over here and asking the same question was kind of ... stupid?

Is this the same beat as last post -- mostly golf, outdoors -- or has it changed a bit?

So this wouldn't be the national golf job, formerly held by Steve Elling? Would this be the backup/local golf guy?

Hoppes announced Admiral Benbow... and then said he was looking for another writer.

What the hell happened in between?

Whose call was it? His, or the Sentinel's?

Does it really matter? The spot's open again, either way.

If it was a coach, we'd be digging into every sordid detail and defending to the death our right to do so.

Just sayin'.

Word from the Upstate pipeline is JB, 23, felt some loyalty to Joe Sullivan at the Globe even though he wasn't even working in the downtown office. He was with the zoned editions. And there was also something to do with a girl on Long Island. To top it off, the Globe's counter offer was still less than what the Sentinel had on the table.

I can't explain why any or all of that would keep him in Boston, just wanted to shed some light on it.

Now back to filling the opening ...

That word loyalty can be pretty dangerous. Here's hoping he's shown the same by the Globe somewhere down the line. Is there any kind of deadline for new applications, Lynn?

True, but there's something refreshing about loyalty.
