The New York Post is seeking an Online Sports Editor to join our digital team. This is an opportunity to join an iconic media brand as it continues to experience exponential growth on the web and help shepherd The Post’s transition to a digital-centric newsroom.

Responsibilities

• Assign and edit stories based on their interest to The Post's online readership
• Collaborate with reporters and editors across various editorial departments to coordinate sports coverage
• Manage NYPost.com’s sports landing page
• Oversee breaking news coverage and send sports-related push alerts through our mobile app
• Publish sports content to our social media platforms
• Use web analytics to monitor readers' engagement with our stories
• Communicate best practices for web publishing online when working with journalists in other departments at The Post

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience covering sports for an online publication
• Superior editorial judgment
• Ability to line-edit stories and develop story ideas with reporters
• Experience publishing stories that are impactful and compelling online
• Proven ability to write pithy, web-friendly headlines
• Ability to leverage multimedia content to enhance stories and user experience
• Experience using social media to find and promote stories
• Familiarity with content management systems, photo editing software and web analytics tools
