Visitors (although not patients - yet) to state mental hospitals in Texas can bring their shootin' irons with them.

Texas allows guns into state mental health hospitals

State Rep. Matt Rinaldi, a Republican from Irving, voiced support of the new policy and said it's up to each hospital to keep the guns away from patients. “It's the responsibility of the operators of the facilities to ensure that the patients are not around dangerous weapons,” he told the Austin American-Statesman, who first reported the policy shift.

They just can't exercise that responsibility by, you know, making sure they can't be around dangerous weapons.

Patients are no crazier than than the average asshole out walkin' around on the streets.

Maybe there should be background checks before you are allowed to visit mental institutions.
