Does anyone know much about Ogden? All I know about the company is that it's based somewhere in Virginia and owns a number of mostly-small newspapers. I tried doing a search on it but can't find much information about it. Does anyone here work at a paper owned by Ogden?

They mostly own smaller papers, under 20,000 circulation, so they give a lot of journalists their start. If you work for them, you'll put in a lot of hours and be compensated with pay and benefits that are adequate at best.

Ogden is not a chain at which you'd want to jump aboard blindly. Its a cheap ownership operation, much like most of them out there. Some papers are better than others. The Altoona Mirror is Pennsylvania's strongest Ogden publication, and it's also rewarded as such. Remember this: The same people who run Ogden also hold down the fort for the Pittsburgh Pirates. ... Think about it.

But, every one needs to start somewhere, I suppose.
