Team in Illinois high school playoffs assessed opening technical for having too wide a stripe on their unis... after playing in the same gear all season long. They even offered to switch to their road unis, but IHAA director said those were "too colorful." ::)

Team goes on to lose, by one point.

Egads.

No vengeance is too harsh. Complete egging of the official's house, car, and self sounds about right, followed by the judge dismissing the case when the prick brings the posse up on charges.
Adults suck. I say that months from my 60th birthday.

That's something I would expect from the WIAA or the MSHSL.

"too colorful"?

Didn't he really mean "too colored"?

Idiots.

This just begs so many questions.
Why did no other official make this call during the season?
Why did the school order uniforms that were illegal?
Why does a company make uniforms that are illegal?
Total horse**** to make this call at this point of the season.

They should have just waited until they won the state championship and suddenly disqualified them.

Oh, sure. It's all the officials' faults. First we allow them to play in illegal uniforms, they win, and then what? Next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up.

I've seen it a hundred times.

Don't forget the part where they start selling crack on the side.

Also, what exactly is the genesis of this rule? why was it deemed important that the stripe under the arm could only be 4 inches wide in the first place? absolutely brutal.

The title should be "Officious pricks who run high school athletics for $500, Alex"

Just sayin'

Illegal unis are a gateway violation.

So we're blindly accepting the coach's side over the IHSA official's side? Official says he's told the coach numerous times. Coach said he heard nothing till that day.

If I were trying to cover my ass, that would be my excuse too.

Just saying.

The IHSA: ****ing dumbasses for as long as I've ever dealt with them.

WFW.

The same organization (or one that didn't do anything about it) that closed its press gate and locked the door at the small school state finals last weekend 90 minutes before game time because the staffers in Peoria had to go on break. You had radio guys out there standing with their dicks in their hands who wanted to go on air.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The comments were entertaining. Incredibly racist and full of mouth breathers, but very entertaining.
Seems like I recall that some sort of problem happens everytime a Chicago school plays a downstate team in the state tournament. And that the Chicago schools and the fans always cry "racism."
If the IHSA had a problem, did they put it in writing? Send a letter to the school? Have any documentation were they said the uniforms were a problem? If not, then I'll take the coach's word.
Also, I didn't know a coach assessed a pre-game technical wasn't allowed to stand up during the game. Is that an Illinois rule?

Any coach hit with a technical looses the coaching box privilege; same applies to a "team" technical. National Federation rules.
