Really?

I thought it was WAY too long, and I simply couldn't coax myself to read it all. I didn't see anything particularly special about the writing, but maybe I missed something.

Um, I think you guys really, really, REALLY need to keep reading. It's worth it. Trust me.

OK, I'll be the first. ... WTF?

Can anyone explain what I just read?

It's a piece of fiction from a collection of short stories.
Some experimental writing from a college professor, and I'll probably go looking for the book at my local Barnes.
I liked the line about the kid having a bad game because he touched a girl's boob earlier in the week.

OK, now it makes a bit more sense. But not a lot. That was weird. Funny at times, but weird.

I didn't think it was real, per se, but I didn't completely understand what it was, either. It's just ... bizarre. Feels a bit out of context, or something.

I dreamed last night I was feeling up my high school biology teacher while my youth pastor gave me a foot massage.

Well, I WAS wondering how the hell North Carolina's basketball season could already be wrapping up when their schools just now started their years.

That was ****ing hilarious. Good call, Stupid.

And I especially love that it's on the edge of being something you might not get.

This was one heck of a quote....

"Each time, we drew up a good play," said Way, whose daughter, Cassandra, was born in November without arms. "But I could see my guys were rattled, I could see the fear. These guys don't have any guts. They have two arms but it's a situation where they have no guts."

terrific stuff.

Wow. You should send this to the Onion or something. I bought it ... sort of. But dropped about 10 WTFs.

Interesting work. Not exactly "brilliant"
But a nice, light-hearted read once you accept the premise.
I enjoyed it.

the guy tells the story of the small town draped in the gamer about the local HS basketball team's playoff loss. It's wry and sardonic and part of a new collection of short stories in a book by Alqonquin Press called "New Stories of the South" (which is why it's in the Lifestyles section of the Web site and not in Sports).

And some of you need to search your couches, scrape up some change and buy a clue. Jesus, I thought we were smarter than the average bears over here.
