We've done the AL, might as well talk about the NL.

Likely candidates:

Dan Haren, Arizona Diamondbacks
Tim Lincecum, San Francisco Giants
Chris Carpenter, St. Louis Cardinals
Johan Santana, New York Mets
Matt Cain, San Francisco Giants
J.A. Happ, Philadelphia Phillies
Javier Vazquez, Atlanta Braves
Adam Wainwright, St. Louis Cardinals
Chad Billingsley, Los Angeles Dodgers
Josh Johnson, Florida Marlins
Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers
Yovani Gallardo, Milwaukee Brewers

If there's more, please go ahead and add them.

Have at it.

I like Wainwright, but I don't think he has the name recognition, and he'll be hurt by the "he's not the best pitcher on his team" argument, which I don't think is true but is tied into the lack of name recognition.

I guess it all depends on how much weight you put on those six missed starts for Carpenter. Certainly tough to overlook that, but he's having a phenomenal season. Better than Lincecum in many respects. I think it comes down to those two, with Lincecum pulling it out because he's played the full season.

And the fact that St. Louis is ahead by 7 or 8 games, with that offense -- seriously, take a look; the power numbers read like Jack Clark and the Seven Dwarfs again, only they can't run worth a ****, because Pujols leads in steals, too! -- is mind-blowing. Shows just how much of an effect Holliday has had.

Take October out and the Braves have something like 12 championships.

Carpenter or Lincecum.
Why is there anyone else to debate?

And, really, Kevin you listed about 10 guys who shouldn;t even get a single vote.

Jimenez is carrying a substandard team

But you can't just ignore his substandard (actually, pathetic) April.

And, while Coors isn't the absolute launching pad it was 10 years ago, it is still No. 1 in pro-hitter park factor this year.

St. Louis is 27th.

3.36 ERA at Coors on a team in a playoff spot.... yes, he should be in the discussion.

Lincecum: 12-4, 2.43 ERA, 26 GS, 185.1 IP, 142 H, 214 K, 51 BB, 1.041 WHIP
Cain: 12-4, 2.39 ERA, 26 GS, 177.1 IP, 143 H, 133 K, 61 BB, 1.150 WHIP
Carpenter: 14-3, 2.16 ERA, 21 GS, 145.2 IP, 117 H, 111 K, 23 BB, 0.961 WHIP
Wainwright: 15-7, 2.50 ERA, 27 GS, 187 IP, 172 H, 157 K, 54 BB, 1.209 WHIP

Jimenez: 12-9, 3.36 ERA, 26 GS, 174.1 IP, 146 H, 154 K, 66 BB, 1.216 WHIP

No way. Even adding in the "Coors effect."

Happ: 10-2, 2.59 ERA, 17 GS (29 G), 135.2 IP, 110 H, 93 K, 49 BB, 1.172 WHIP.

No way a guy with 23-24 starts gets a first-place vote, especially when there are four uber-strong candidates.

1. Lincecum
2. Carpenter
3. Cain

Very willing to flip 1 and 2 depending on how the season plays out. St. Louis blew Carpenter's 15th win today. Haren and Wainwright could still play his way into the top three, too.
