I read this on Romenesko, and had the same reaction as Moderator1, Slappy and Ace ... Marilyn Mitchell might be difficult, but jeez. Not the atmosphere I'd want to foster.

That was the weakest rebuttal I have ever read.
1) When uttered in budget meetings, "wetbacks" is "sometimes" used to chastise racism. Sometimes? Wow. Great.
2) The "boys will be boys" defense, it seems to me, was invalidated with Clarence Thomas' confirmation hearings.

So either something happened to **** her the hell off before most newsroom types even get to the office, or she slept on it, came in and wrote that. I'm betting the latter. That's a lot of anger.

I can verify that Mitchell is the worst of Gannett, constantly promoted and not because of her talents.
She is the very definition of failing upward. Seems like someone in Little Rock finally called her on her bull**** and she went into a hissy.
Good riddance, I just know when she got hired, I doubted she'd make it a year, and I was right.
