Not sports, but still a newsroom job. We recently had a hybrid editor/reporter leave the fold, and this is their position. So someone who knows InDesign, Photoshop and how to lay out a page would probably get their name moved to the top of the pile even if the job listing doesn't specify it as a requirement. Even if the bulk of your experience is in sports, we're willing to consider you.

Cannons, casinos and the Corps make for an amazing news town. All it needs is a community-minded, self-motivated person to join its team as a reporter of its award-winning community newspaper. The Vicksburg (Miss.) Post is looking to expand its excellent news team.
Vicksburg is home to great Civil War history and modern science as well with three U.S. Army Corps of Engineers research facilities in the area. Vicksburg is a great place to live, located approximately 45 miles west of the state capital in Jackson.
This Pulitzer Prize winning, 10,000-circulation daily publishes Monday through Friday afternoons and weekend mornings. Recent local market research showed 7 out of 10 local residents turn to The Post for their news.
Candidates must be proficient in reporting and writing. This position requires an individual who loves to get out of the office and discover the news of our community, strong writing skills and the ability to work independently. Other duties may include in time updating website and social media.
Applicants should have a college degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent experience. Previous experience with InDesign and Photoshop a definite plus.
