Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 10, 2008 -- Sports Reference LLC today launched its latest historical sports statistics site, Olympics at Sports-Reference.com. The site provides information for every athlete, country, sport, and event in Olympic history, all packaged in Sports Reference's easy-to-use format. It joins the top-rated and popular Sports Reference baseball, football, basketball, and hockey sites.

My god. This is incredible.

You want to know who won the silver medal in the men's speed skating 5K at the 1932 Lake Placid Games? (<a href="http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/winter/1932/SSK/mens-5000-metres.html">Eddie Murphy</a>.)

You want to know who won Brazil's only gold medal in the 1984 Summer Games in L.A.? (<a href="http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/countries/BRA/summer/1984/">Joaquim Cruz</a>.)

You want to find out every result for the Unified Team in 1992? (<a href="http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/countries/EUN/">Click here</a>.)

You want to know who was my first Olympic crush? (<a href="http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/po/liliya-podkopaeva-1.html">Click here</a>.) 8)

Coming soon: Bucky's vacation in which he finds the childhood home of Liliya Podkopaeva and writes 435,000 words about it for the Society of Olympic Research. :D :D :D

It's a little annoying that they spell the host city's name in the local language.

Leads to this as a page header:
"United States at the 1972 München Summer Games"

International Society of Olympic Historians. Get it right.

And did you know that Lilya Podkopaeva's birthplace was founded by a man named ... John Hughes? Eat my shorts, dickhead! :D

That's because it's not strictly an American site and/or for an American audience. While Sean Forman's Sports Reference LLC is in charge of the development, I think most of the main contributors are from the aforementioned ISOH. Their style is to use local language where possible.
