It's amazing. Did you see the pictures of them aiming their bows and arrows at airplanes? Like something out of a movie.

Did they look like this?

I saw that and understand why the government wants to "prove their existence." But think about what they might have done to these people, buzzing them like they did.

Leave 'em the **** alone. They're far better off without knowing us.

Unfortunately that probably won't happen and they'll all have iPods within two years.

It's so fascinating that these groups still exist. Of course these photos getting worldwide internet distribution probably means the end for them is near.

This truly is fascinating.

I'd love to know what they're thinking when they see a 747 flying overhead at 35,000 feet.

Ok you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

I really don't see the problem with this. They know something else's out there. They've seen the evidence, like rich said.

I thought this, too. They must be freaking out.

It's totally fascinating, though.

I think to them 747s and even that helicopter are like UFOs to us.

Imagine how world-changing it would be if a UFO landed and the aliens got out to talk to us. I think modern man intruding on these tribes is the same.

Sure, it's nice to know they exist, but I hope they're left alone.

I'm sure Christian missionaries are frothing at the mouth now.

More than half the world's 100 uncontacted tribes live in Brazil or Peru, Survival International says.

If they're uncontacted how do we know how many there are?

This story had me reading up about isolated tribes last night... There are more than 100 tribes like this in the world, in New Guinea and in the Amazon Forrest. Christian missionaries wouldn't stand a chance. They'd kill half the people by spreading diseases they aren't immune to. But they'd never get close enough. The reason these tribes remain so isolated is that they are hostile to any approaches from outsiders. Unless those Christian missionaries go in with guns blazing, trying to mow them down, they will end up with their skulls on sticks. Two years ago, one of these isolated tribes on an island near India, killed two fishermen who were fishing within range of the island and then they drove off the helicopter that was sent to retrieve their bodies with a hail of arrows.

Uncontacted is a bad term. More like isolated. There are very few tribes that haven't had some kind of contact with modern civilization. The tribes that is referring to, though, make contact really difficult and dangerous and choose to remain isolated.
