I'm engaged to a paraplegic who, coincidentally, lives 60 miles away and works with retarded kids at a state facility. We joke that the reason we fell in love was because she found a client to take home and I finally found a woman who couldn't run away.

As for the topic at hand, KY, take it slow. Meet the woman, for God's sake. Trust me, there's a lot of work ahead of her as far as rehab and therapy. And some surprises you may or may not be ready for. Spend some time with her. See how you click, especially if you haven't been around any disabled people before. Give it at least 6 months before you even THINK about moving, and see how her rehab is progressing. Maybe she can be closer to you if she's doing better.
