Do you plan on celebrating National Newspaper Week, Oct. 4-10?

If I still have a job, that will be celebration enough for me.

I love this business ... it's what I've wanted to do since I was in fourth grade. But I don't know how much longer I can afford to work in newspapers.

I heard that.

It now is known as Hyperlocal Multi-Platform Moments.

Management understands these are challenging times. Please enjoy your 20 minute celebration at the vending machine, which has snacks for purchase, before returning to design, reporting, Twittering, blogging, videoing, podcasting and cleaning the east wing.

Yup. It's quite the disheartening realization.

I did not even know there was a National Newspaper week.

Until the recent cutbacks it was National Newspaper month.

Maybe we can wear black, white and red ribbons to raise awareness.

I'm wearing my paystub on my sleeve to raise awareness. So far, I've received nothing but snickers and I'm not talking about the candy bar.

Two of the other three weeks are on furlough. The third has been converted to National Internet Week.
