I wonder what the chances of them posting an editor position if this is true. My guess is that they will just shuffle responsibilities around to not have to go through the large application process.

No idea yet, Mayfly. John Quinn is the deputy. But Bill Marimow has displayed a pattern of bringing his own people in since taking over as editor of the paper late last year. New MEs, some new department heads. As with most newspaper decisions these days, it will probably come down to whether Marimow gets the green light to hire.
With Stephen A. Smith's imminent departure, Claire Smith going to ESPN and Shannon Ryan leaving for the Chicago Tribune, Jenks' leaving puts the Inquirer sports staff down four bodies since August.

I see on the Philly Inq Web site that the "sports copy desk" has only four names or so. Could that be right? I know that staff lists on Web sites are usually far from accurate. On the other hand..............

Jenks is as good as they come.
He's worked for ESPN.com in the past so he knows that end of the biz.
APSE won't be the same without him.
I know with what he's been through in Philly, he's owed some stress-free time.
