Mood music

I know this might be a little out there, but I recommend Penelope Houston. She's a former punk turned Bay Area folk artist who has a very sultry voice. Definitely not mainstream by any stretch of the imagination, but worth checking out.

A few singles to check out...

Dream by Alice Smith.
Come Undone by Duran Duran
To Love Somebody by Nina Simone
You've Really Got A Hold On Me by Meshell Ndegeocello (from Standing in the Shadows of Motown soundtrack)

Thanks guys. I'm definitely going to hit up the iTunes store soon!
And Moddy, I'm sure she'd dig the sax stuff if you could remember the name.
Thanks again!

Side One.

R. Kelly's 12 Play - you know, before it came to light that he had, uh, different tastes: Bump 'n' Grind, Sex Me, Your Body's Callin'...

A friend in college referred to it as '**** me' music.

That and Jodeci's Freek 'n' You.

Red Light Special -- TLC

I think the previous thread on this was CR's panty melt one.

Well done that is an amazing track. I have a great collection of "mood music", I can set the mood with the best of them, closing the deal is a whole different issue.

Exactly. It's classy, it's timeless, it's sexy, it's smooth, it's beautiful without being cheesy. And even his older stuff works for this, even though his voice has changed so much, it sounds like he spent the last three decades shotgunning whiskey and chain-smoking cigarettes.
