Trending on Twitter that Les Miles is going to resign after having an affair with a student... only one blog reporting so far, and that sounds just like a story based on the tweets without any substantiation.

Anyone? God I hope that it's bull****.

Sorry!

I'll need to wash my eyes out a long time after all the journalism sins I saw on that linked page

yeah, yeah, i know... and hate to give it any credibility at all. But the story is trending on Twitter (apparently), so just wondering if there's anything to it.

So this is the point we've reached, that someone who floats a rumor not based on any sort of fact on a Saturday night about Les Miles, and that just because it's trending on Twitter we're giving it credibility?

No . . . we're finding out whether or not it has credibility.

And . . . it does not.

I have a reliable (prepare for buzzword) *source* that tells me Les Miles will NOT step down Monday and that this entire rumor is BS. #LSU

Thanks, Norrin, that's exactly why I posted it. I don't want to give it credibility at all, and hoped it wasn't true.

I wish Miles could sue the guy who started this rumor and take everything he has.

Not because I think Miles was horribly wronged by this but because idiots who start crap like this need to be destroyed.

Yep. I wondered the same. What credibility does Twitter have?

Is Twitter a person?

But before finding out if it has credibility, why is it plastered all over the place? Why are we ceding our ethics and journalistic rules to idiots on Twitter and bloggers with no scruples? Let them spread. In the meantime, I hope LSU and national beat writers are actually making a few phone calls before they run with this.

Who is "we"?

Did anyone from the respectable media approach this rumor at all?

ESPN, Yahoo, USA Today, The Times-Picayune, The Advocate or even CBS, assuming they have put the Joe Paterno incident behind them.

What student in their right mind would **** that moonbat?

Dude, it's the SEC. Mark Mangino could get laid if he was a head coach down there.
