MIDWESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY SPORTS INFORMATION GRADUATE ASSISTANT
Midwestern State University, an NCAA Division II member of the Lone Star Conference that sponsors 11 sports, seeks applicants for a qualified sports information graduate assistant. This is a career-oriented position in which the successful candidate will gain experience necessary to succeed in the sports information field upon completion.
This is a 9-month position for the 2008-09 academic year, with an option for renewal for the 2009-10 academic year at the discretion of the sports information office. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and experience in journalism, public relations, publications or a related field involving athletic activities and qualify for acceptance into graduate school at Midwestern State University.
Candidates should have a working knowledge of desktop publishing tools including the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/InDesign), demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and work with considerable independence. The successful candidate will work closely with assigned sports, including serving as the liaison to members of the media, producing media guides (design, layout, writing and editing), writing news releases and game notes, compiling statistics at athletic events, serve as a liaison for the athletic letterman and booster club as well as assisting with the maintenance of MSU's Athletics Web site. The successful candidate will report to the Sports Information Director.
