Yeesh. Wonder what his excuse will be this time. I think he should go the Floyd Landis rout and say he has naturally high amounts of meth in his system.

Updated version reports there's an affidavit from his stepmother who claims to have personally witnessed him using "at least 30 times over seven years."

Witnessed ... she's probably the one who got it for him.

July 6? That was after his no-show at Daytona. Would he have still been subject to NASCAR's testing? What are the rules on that?

My god, this thread title would have had us rolling at work last night. Hard to explain why, but it made me chuckle here.

Would NASCAR penalize him for having one of those mobile labs in the trunk of the No. 23 Sudafed?

After what NASCAR did to Tim Richmond, I'll wait to see the drug tests results myself.

Mayfield's new car sponsor: Sudafed.

Or AMC. His car would be quite the rolling billboard for "Breaking Bad".

The sport that bloomed out of running white lightning has a driver using meth. Color me shocked.

Excellent point.

Besides, NECKAR is in the middle of a precipitous fall from the dizzying heights it attained in the late 90s and early 2000s. This sure doesn't help.

Don't know who's right and who's wrong in this (I hesitate to believe much of what comes out of NASCAR, which has always been five minutes away from pro wrestling). But already today, Mayfield has called his step-mother a ***** and implied that she shot and killed his father (whose death was ruled a suicide).

The movie version of this could be a combination of Fargo and Days of Thunder.
