Has anyone else been following the legislative debacles going on there?

http://www.thedailyjournal.com/stor...kers-talk-changes-newspaper-ad-bill/95617382/

tl;dr: Chris Christie was pushing a bill to take legal notices out of newspapers, a move some say is "revenge" for their coverage of him. That got tabled last night but is still breathing. It would certainly be another, pretty big nail in the coffin of traditional journalism.

Also, Christie was pushing a bill to hike salaries across state government in exchange for loosening an ethics law to allow him to profit from a book deal while still in office.

Both bills sailed through committee, but then, shocker, lawmakers suddenly became vehemently opposed to them once they became aware of the public backlash.

The move to scrap the regulations of legal notices in papers has been tried here for several years here. Because we have so many rural areas and little government presence online, and less residential online participation (older, rural pop.) the attempts have been thwarted.
That said: a lack of legal notices would save governments a ton of money.
And be a HUGE blow to newspaper revenue streams.
