It’s comical how much hiring authority college coaches have. At virtually any school of size/repute, there is literally no one who’s free to hire “whoever” the way coaches are.

Be real. He's just gonna be Kiffin's water boy, too. It'll look swell on the kid's resume, but as for real authority over the offense, I'd say nil.

It's much more common in the NFL than in college, but yeah, it's not unheard of. Hugh Freeze, Chad Morris, Paul Johnson, David Cutcliffe and Sonny Dykes never played past high school either.
