Besides looking like he just made love to a dead deer...

Madison - State Rep. Jeff Wood (I-Bloomer) is slated to be in court Jan. 26 after his arrest early Friday for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and drunken driving.

Wood - the first independent elected to the Legislature in 80 years - was arrested at 2:11 a.m. Friday on I-90/94 in Columbia County, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol and Columbia County Jail.

In a statement, Wood, 39, apologized.

"I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible behavior," he said in his statement. "I apologize to my family, friends and my constituents who expect more from me.

"There is no excuse for my actions and I accept full responsibility. This is not typical behavior for me, but unfortunately I drank too much and exercised very poor judgment."

Looks like a typical night out in Bloomer to me, what's the problem?

Figured he was an independent - A Dem or a GOPer wouldn't apologize or accept responsibility, they would have declined comment based on an ongoing investigation and asked people to respect their privacy.
Public figures everywhere should use his words as a template if caught in a similar jam. It says it all. You've got to respect the guy for saying what needed to be said.
