Esquire, which thinks that James Corden is the new Esquire Man, stupidly wrote "You almost don't need to watch it—you can imagine it—but somehow it's even worse than you think it'll be."

Yes it's political as all hell, but it's actually pretty good, even though I think Pepsi sucks.

I humbly disagree that it's pretty good.

I very much agree that Esquire wrote a stupid thing.

I'm pretty sure that this is all just part of a not-so-cleaver plot to distract people from the fact that Pepsi is dreck.

Preface: My marketing instincts are usually for crap.

But when you step into a minefield like that, you had better be bold (and right). . ... or don't do it.

When you try to play it down the middle, you end up with two polarized groups of potential customers, both of which think your ad sucked. Whoever got paid to come up with that idea should be rethinking their career.

That ad was a monster home run. Who's talking about Coke today?

It is a hilariously bad ad that has made Twitter very entertaining this morning (my favorite: some dude photoshopped a Pepsi bottle to replace the protester facing the tank in Beijing). What is it with Pepsi and marketing, anyway? Their last bright idea about five years ago was to skip the Super Bowl.

Pepsi should have spent the money making their soft drink taste better.

That ad can't hold a candle to this oldie-but-goodie:
