I'm no Yankees fan, but the reality is that when putting together lists, their history makes things associated with them more important. That's the way it is in all sports. Those Blue Jays teams were great, but most baseball fans don't care.

I disagree with it being among the top 2.

1. It happened in a Game 6, not a deciding game (unlike Thomson and Mazeroski)

2. He wasn't injured while trying to play, to my knowledge (unlike Gibson)

3. Kirby Puckett's homer in Game 6 in 1991 kept the Twins alive for another day and Carlton Fisk's 1975 blast also kept the Red Sox alive. Carter's team was leading the series, 3-2.

Was Carter's homer in the Top 10? Definitely. Best one or two homers ever? Nope.

And if it was the Titans or Ravens scoring a game-winning TD in the final seconds of the Super Bowl instead of the Steelers, that play would not have ranked as highly as it will for years to come. Part of the "greatness" of any play is who the participants are.
