Jericho season 2 thread

I'm just getting caught up now on Season 1, thanks to Universal HD which ran a marathon starting last night. I think I'm going to check out the next season once I get caught up.

I know that there's some fans on here so I'm anxious to see what people think of the past season and what's to come. Personally, I feel like there's way too much fluff and not enough plot development, but I'm also only on episode seven.

Speaking as a fan that saw all 22 episodes of season 1, I can tell you the action really starts picking up in the next several shows.

I hope CBS gives Jericho a chance this time around.

They didn't exactly come back with a bang, but there was some interesting stuff. I would have liked to have seen the war play out a little more.

I didn't trust the government from teh start, but they certainly gave you reason not to at the end of the show.

Still not sure about Chavez, though Hawkins seems to trust him.

I could do without the red-head girl coming back. Didn't care for the love triangle thing early last season.

Doubt the show will last, but I hope so. It's pretty damn good overall.

If this episode got beat by the dog show, it deserves to be canceled. But it won't.

I'd like to offer a great big "thank you" to CBS for bringing it back, and an even bigger "**** you" for putting it on at 10 p.m.

God forbid they put it on at 8 p.m. when they've got repeats of NCIS they can show. Just give us some resoution in these seven shows and replace it with whatever "reality" bull**** you can come up with, please.

Not Mary and April ... the girl who kissed Jake early on and the triangle with Emily. I guess her hair is more of a chestnut color, not so much red.

I thought it was a great return for the show. The military dude really did a great job. I also get a sense that we're moving toward a resolution of some kind. That's great given that they show probably will be off the air for good in a few more weeks.

Judging by the overnight ratings, I'd say its renewal chances are 50-50.

Its ratings were up from last year's finale and it beat a new Boston Legal, but it got nosed by an SVU rerun. A lackluster lead-in by Big Brother against a two-hour Idol didn't help.

Luckily, Jericho has Sci-Fi Channel to fall back on if it can't cut it on CBS.

Huh? I thought there was talk of that after the original cancellation and the consensus was that it wouldn't happen. Have you heard different if it's killed after this season?

Sci-Fi showed a Jericho marathon the day before the Season 2 debut and will show Season 1 reruns — err, "encore presentations" — on Monday nights. No, I haven't heard anything definite, but the fact that an NBC-owned network picked up a CBS series and embraced it with a forum page and other features, by itself, does raise eyebrows.

I've got to think an ex-journo had a hand in writing the dialogue between Jake and the Modesto Bee reporter. Talk about acidic and yet on-point. And why does it seem that every reporter who is ever a character on TV is a Pulitzer winner? In this case two-time Pulitzer winner.

"Jericho" has a fan base so passionate it famously resurrected the show from cancellation last summer. But apparently it's not passionate enough to turn out for a local comic book convention.

The Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention offered "Jericho" fanatics a great opportunity last Sunday to screen the new season's second episode and attend a panel discussion with show's stars and producers. Fourteen cast and crew members took the stage after the screening, but the sparsely populated audience could manage only a handful of questions and a palpable lack of enthusiasm. Possibly because "Jericho" is neither a comic book nor a work of science fiction.

Executive producer and "National Treasure" filmmaker Jon Turteltaub cracked, "After this event today I'll be shocked if ["Jericho"] doesn't become enormous [in the ratings] -- with all 80 of you."

Esai Morales is awesome as the major. He's my new favorite actor on the show.

The LAT blog is right ... this show is not really sci-fi, at least not in the second season. It's definitely more of an action mystery. I wish it had more Mad Max stuff in the first season, though.
