I was never able to stand Whitlock, but this is complete asinine.

He cannot be serious with these comments:

“This is what a lot of NBA people believe,” Whitlock insisted. “American born ... players have more intensity.

“They’re not as laid back. Canada is a laid back, which is probably a positive thing.”

Fitting that he chose "born" as his word choice, because birth is about all that distinguishes Wiggins from his US counterparts here. Wiggins has an American dad, attended an American high school, has been playing on the US high school, camp and AAU circuit against the best US players for year and years. In terms of his basketball education, it's been pretty much identical to that of the top US players from his class.

Yet Whitlock still thinks his Canadian-ness makes him less intense and "not want it as much" as the US kids who grew up playing with and against? Umm, why? Just something about being born in that cold air up there?

What a stupid take. Remember when people used to take Whitlock seriously? That seems like a loong time ago now.

I believe Whitlock was referring to suburban Canadians, obviously inner city Canadians bring it every night
