Jack White will require fans to keep phones locked in a pouch he got from the future at his shows

He's not the first. I remember reading about Dave Chapelle doing it for his comedy shows.

I like it. Nothing worse than going to a show and having some jackhole standing in front of you taking video, blocking your view. Live in the damn moment, not for your Instagram feed. Cripes.

Azrael is going to text his family a photo of him and the misses in front of the arena before going in.

Bob Dylan solved this years ago. He just puts up really big mirrors in front of the stage, keeps the lighting dim and lurks at the corner of the stage at the piano like he's the Phantom of the Opera during his shows.

exactly

then we'll dance and dance while others try and fail to curate their timelines

Can we get those pouches for the White House? Second floor, STAT.

I used to walk past the theater in Chicago where "Hamilton" is playing on the way into and out of work every day. You've never seen so many people setting up photos in one space in your life.

I wish Prince was still alive.

"I've confiscated all your phones and transported them into another dimension. They're never coming back."

He would've just stored them in a second-hand store.

My favorite Prince thing that came out after his death was that he had frequented some used record store in Minneapolis, and during a recent rip had bought, I think, "Ziggy Stardust" or "Rocket to Russia" or some other stone-cold classic.

And I'm thinking: Prince didn't own ****ing 'Ziggy Stardust'?!

Last Jack White show I went to (two years ago? three?) there were orders not to use your phone during the show. Didn't stop people. I took a few shots. The way he had the lighting set up, nothing much came out anyway.

But he is not the first -- or even 20th -- to use this product.

Luke Skywalker, George Jetson, and 18 replicants. That's the list.

Jack White's a proven jerk.

But this isn't a bad policy. Movie theaters should invest in it.
