Yes, they were rich SOBs. But they were wronged as we/Mike Nifong did another rush to judgment job that played along race and (never mentioned, but just as important, highlighted by hondo's comments) class lines.

And that justifies a DA trying to railroad them for his own personal gain even though they were innocent? It makes it ok for 88 academic snobs to scream for these players' heads before actually finding out the truth of what happened? Or for the university to punish them before getting all the facts? Not to mention the rush to judgement from many in the media and jackasses like Jesse Jackson.
The answer is no, in case you are still having trouble with it.
Do I think I would like these guys? Would I want my daughter dating one of them if she was old enough? Probably not and no way. But just because we may not like them doesn't mean that they deserved the treatment they received from a very large number of people who should have known better.
